Yilan County Government held a commendation ceremony today (24th) at 9:00 AM in the Magistrate’s Reception Room to honor two outstanding local baseball players, presided over personally by Acting County Magistrate Lin Mao-sheng. Jiang Yun-hao, a recent graduate of Zhulin Elementary School, was selected for the national team at the 2026 XII BFA U12 Asian Baseball Championship and secured the runner-up title. Guo Jing-yuan, a recent graduate of Luodong Industrial High School, successfully advanced to professional ranks by joining the Uni-President 7-ELEVEn Lions of CPBL through his exceptional talent. Both athletes presented autographed baseballs to Acting Magistrate Lin on-site to express gratitude for the long-term support from the county government and the community.
Acting Magistrate Lin stated that baseball is Taiwan's national sport, and having a national team player and a professional star emerge simultaneously is a supreme honor for Yilan. Jiang played with impressive composure on the international stage, laying a critical foundation for Team Taiwan's second-place finish, while Guo broke through numerous challenges after years of hard work to step into the professional arena, serving as an exemplary role model for younger students in Yilan. Lin extended special thanks for the signed baseballs and encouraged both players to stay true to their original passion, continuously hone their skills, and shine bright in future sporting venues to bring further glory to Yilan and Taiwan.
Both honored athletes represent the finest local baseball talent developed in Yilan. Jiang began his baseball journey with the Zhulin Elementary School team, earning his selection to the 2026 U12 National Team through superior mechanics and keen spatial awareness, ultimately helping the team secure the Asian Championship runner-up spot; he will attend Neicheng Junior High School to continue his athletic career under high expectations. Guo, who developed through the Luodong Industrial High School baseball program, demonstrated remarkable two-way talent and stability during his high school years. Joining the Uni-President Lions not only fulfills his personal professional dream, but also highlights the fruitful results of Yilan's grass-roots baseball cultivation system.
The county government has long been dedicated to deepening local sports development, actively discovering and nurturing top talent, upgrading athletic facilities across all school levels, and establishing a seamless three-tier baseball development system to provide athletes with a high-quality training environment and support network.
