Acting Yilan County Magistrate Lin, Mao-Sheng announced today (14th) at the county affairs meeting the launch of the Yilan County Government’s 2026 (Year 115) Emerging and Highlight Projects. A total of 39 projects have been planned, encompassing three main focus of county governance — people's well-being, Economic Development, and Environmental Sustainability. These initiatives represent the key priorities for next year’s county administration. During the meeting, various county departments presented detailed reports on the new projects, allowing residents to better understand the county government’s future policy directions.
The county government has allocated a total budget of NT$2.93236 billion for these 39 projects, with approximately NT$979.78 million designated in the 2026 fiscal year budget. The projects are categorized into three major areas:
people's well-being: 12 projects, total cost of about NT$847.89 million, with NT$585.95 million budgeted for 2026.
Economic Development: 10 projects, total cost of about NT$470.31 million, with NT$183.92 million budgeted for 2026.
Environmental Sustainability: 17 projects, total cost of about NT$1.61416 billion, with NT$209.91 million budgeted for 2026.
people's well-being
In the area of public welfare, the county government is committed to creating a friendly, safe, and livable environment to enhance residents’ quality of life. Projects include increasing subsidies for school lunch programs, improving road safety around school campuses, adding new children’s playground facilities, and implementing Phase III of the Yuanshan Children’s Play Park project. These initiatives aim to comprehensively improve the everyday living environment for Yilan’s citizens.
Economic Development
For economic development, the county will focus on major infrastructure projects and integration of regional tourism resources. Key initiatives include the enhancement of the Dahu Scenic Area, revitalization of the Sanxing Hongchailin Hot Spring Park, and the commissioned design of the new Yilan B-Link Road extension to Yuanshan, funded through the county’s own budget. The government will also conduct a feasibility study for the railway elevation project between Toucheng and Sicheng and development of adjacent land. By advancing both transportation infrastructure and industrial development, the county aims to strengthen local economic growth and enhance overall competitiveness.
Environmental Sustainability
In the area of environmental sustainability, the county government seeks to balance environmental protection and disaster prevention through a range of infrastructure and management projects. Plans include the design and planning of four new pumping stations (Wuyuan, Zhenzhu, Zhuangdong, and Buhou) and the design and supervision of Phase I of the Jiaoxi Water Resource Recycling Center. The county will also promote digital urban governance and the restoration and revitalization of historical and cultural assets, fulfilling its long-term vision of sustainable development.
